Career counseling, Capacity development and skills enhancement

Career Counselling

The Institute has a very well organized placement and training cell. All the students of the final year will be prepared for campus interviews through special programs on technical and soft skills, which would help them get prestigious jobs.

Other initiatives for career counselling include:

  • To prepare the students for aptitude tests of different companies, we conduct aptitude and coding tests by Codechef or Hackerrank, which in turn help them to scale well in aptitude and coding assessment by different companies.
  • Coursera courses were taken up by the students on resume writing skills, group discussions, and aptitude preparation.
  • Career guidance sessions for Indian Army, Indian Navy, i.e., defense services will be conducted in the year.
  • Digital marketing is a booming new field where engineers can explore their analytical skills. We conduct awareness sessions for the final year students.
  • Interaction with some Alumni to train the students for specific job roles and understanding the company culture.
  • Hackathons & Certifications by Microsoft, Google, Infosys.
  • Arranging different leadership talks from industry professionals.

Capacity Development and Skill Enhancement

Soft Skills

Every year, two activities will be conducted to enhance different soft skills like personal interview, personality development, team building activities, etc.

  • Mock GD and PI Sessions: Organized by the Placement Cell for all students who are eligible for placement. The points covered in Mock GD and PI include:
    • Physical Appearance
    • Do’s and Don’ts of GD and PI
    • Mock GD round
    • Mock PI round of 15 minutes with each student
  • Communication Skills Lab Sessions: Conducted for First-Year students of SIT Hyderabad. The points covered include:
    • Introduction to Soft Skills
    • Hard Skills vs Soft Skills
    • Negotiation skills
    • Team building
    • Time management
    • Personality development
    • Telephone etiquettes
    • Interview skills
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Intercultural communication and etiquettes

Language and Communication Skills

  • Weekly Communication Skills Classes: For all first-year students. The classes cover:
    • Resume writing
    • Paragraph writing
    • Business letters
    • Presentation skills
  • Weekly Classes on Liberal Arts (German/French): For second-year students. Students can choose one language (German or French). Topics covered include:
    • Alphabets
    • Phonetics
    • Pronunciation
    • Common vocabulary
    • Short informal salutations
    • Basic grammatical sentence structures

Life Skills (Yoga, Physical Fitness, Health & Hygiene)

  • Yoga Session: To spread awareness about healthy lifestyle practices and the health benefits of yoga.
  • Road Safety Week: Organized to educate students about road safety rules and traffic regulations.
  • Zumba Sessions: Conducted to improve physical fitness and promote well-being.

Awareness of Trends in Technology

In order to make students aware of the latest trends and technology, every department conducts guest lectures in each semester. Industry experts are invited to conduct guest lectures, offering fresh approaches to topics and emphasizing their relevance from an industry perspective. Students are introduced to current trends in the market.
